(adj.) having a consuming passion to write
Hi. That's me to the left.
I'm Skye Haynes, current communications major at the University of Maryland. Since a young age I have had a proclivity for writing and a love for all things satire. You can check out my first blog post to learn about why I made this blog in the first place.
I'd like to think i'm credible enough to write about my own life experiences, but you never know. I am a mulatto, the product of a white woman and a black man. To be more specific, a white, Cuban and Scottish woman and a Jamaican and slightly German man. That genetic recipe made for a very interesting child that underwent all kinds of wacky and zany adventures. Just kidding. It was pretty normal.
When talking to my friend, the topic of creating a blog came along. We acknowledged it was a great way to sharpen writing skills and build a reputation. It was the first time the possibility had ever crossed my mind, though. Me? Write a blog? I wouldn't know where to begin! Who cares about what I have to say, some college freshman barely out of high school typing along on her macbook?
I have yet to answer that question.
Nonetheless, here I am. Click-clacking away on my laptop. In my first blog post, I address my whole reason for making this blog. I just want to help people like me, whether you consider yourself biracial, interracial, mulatto, mixed, in an interracial relationship, or just coming into contact with someone who is mixed, I just want you to know that you aren't alone. I have fulfilled all of these roles and somehow managed to come out the other side relatively unscathed- which I understand is a blessing in itself. I earnestly hope this helps you.
